In just a few days on Sunday May 21, 2023, we will take to the streets in Leawood, KS raising awareness of myasthenia gravis through our MGA Triple Crown Showdown.
In its 12th year, the MGA Triple Crown Showdown has a 5K component, a mile mosey, tot trot (for the kids) and a Stuck in Your Stall element for those participating from afar. The last 3 years have provided hurdles for our event with COVID-19 and 2 major rain storms, er better yet, let’s just call them monsoons!
However, hurdles often remind us of the lives that many of us are living with myasthenia gravis so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that we have a record number of patients signed up to either participate or volunteer at this year’s event!
We’d love it if you came out and joined us on Sunday to help raise awareness of myasthenia gravis. You can still register if you go to www.mga5k.com. You can also register at Packet Pick Up on Saturday May 20 from 10-2pm at the old Justice storefront at Town Center Plaza (5025 W. 117th Street, Leawood, KS) or before the event starting at 7am on Sunday. Patients are free to register but must contact the MGA to obtain the code (info@mgakc.org).
When you come to patient pick up, bring your credit card and be sure to snag some raffle tickets for a chance to win some great items including tickets to Starlight & KC Current, gift cards to Jose Pepper’s, Sushi House, Andy’s Frozen Custard, Fabletics, Freddy’s, a spa basket, garmin, custom dragon and blanket and passes to Club Car Wash. Tickets are 1 for $5, 3 for $10 and 7 for $20.
We have over 18 vendors participating this year. Enjoy breakfast bites from Corner Bakery and fruit from Balls Price Chopper while you stop and chat with industry partners including our presenting sponsors, argenx and Alexion as well as specialty pharmacy providers. You’ll be able to meet adoptable dogs from Melissa’s Second Chances, pose for a selfie in our selfie booth or let you kids enjoy the kids area sponsored by Meredith Kirby and KC Home Couture.
The 5K kicks off at 8am. The mile mosey which is a mosey around the mall property kicks off following the 5K and will be lead by Amanda Foster, a patient with myasthenia gravis.
Speaking of patients, all patients will want to check in at the VIP tent which is teal to get their special swag bag and a chance to win a special MG Warrior Platter donated by the Rustic Mustard Seed.
