Happy Father's Day

We had so much fun last month hearing about moms that we wanted a repeat for dads!

As we embark upon Father's Day this Sunday, we asked some "adult" kids in our community to share with us about their dads with myasthenia gravis.

Mark Macias shared this about his dad, Mark Macias.

"When my Dad told me he had MG and what kind of a disease it is and what it did, I thought he was never gonna be the same. I couldn’t have been more wrong, he still got up early everyday to make breakfast for everyone, and then start his yard work, projects for the house, building or fixing something. He never quit moving and kept going. He would, of course, do a little too much sometimes and have to rest or take a trip to the VA. But, he never had quit in him, still smiled and liked to mess with people to try to get them to smile or laugh. He is a great Dad and friend to have."

Christina Kohn shared about her dad, Ron Kohn.

"My dad has been living with MG for 20+ years. We all feel blessed that he's on a medication regimen that works well for him. He stays very active although he needs naps more often, but he won't complain about that, and he makes sure to see his neurologist on a regular basis. He doesn't let his MG slow him down and we are grateful that he is doing so well. We are all so lucky he's our dad."

Audra Kohltfarber and Beth Jones share about their dad, Roger Huff.

"Our dad is amazing. Even though he has MG, he stays strong and helps others. Running a support group is a big deal. He creates a safe place where people with similar struggles can talk and support each other. His kindness and understanding makes a difference in their lives, and in ours too. He's not just a great dad, he's also an inspiration. We admire his bravery and how he thinks of others."

Annette Delce on her dad, Ross Beaudoin.

"My dad is awesome. He doesn't let Myasthenia Gravis stop him from doing things he loves. Since his diagnosis there have been many challenging days. Despite this, he keeps a positive outlook on life. My dad always puts others needs above his own.

Thank you Dad, for your wonderful example.

Happy Father's Day! "

Wishing all the dads out there a Happy Father's Day!
