As we begin a new year, I've been doing a lot of reflecting. When I think about 2024, the words hope, resilience and connectivity come to mind.
In January 2024 we became fully staffed again at the Myasthenia Gravis Association. While small but mighty our team of 3 has pulled long days, nights and weekends to serve the community of those impacted by MG over the last year. We have been hands on, hands in, feet in and heart in to ensure that we can meet the needs of those sharing our table.
While we haven't always been successful and had some stumbles along the way, we have learned and grown.
Over 179 individuals have received new patient packets this year, nearly 500 clinic visits have taken place, over 1208 people attended 92 support group meetings and we have contributed over $45,000 to MG research.
In 2025, we are excited to roll out a new awareness month initiative called Snowflake Saturdays, the incorporation of an Iowa Support Group, the addition of the Muscle Makers, virtual crafting and hobby group, a corporate advisory council and round two of Designing our Lives with MG, virtual coaching group lead by Sarah Bolton, individual living with MG and life coach.
We are also excited to walk along many of our industry partners in 2025 as there continues to be developments in treatment options and research.
As I’ve said many a time because we sure like to talk about all things “eras” in Kansas City, and as one of my most favorite neurologists said to me in 2018, “it’s the golden era for myasthenia gravis.” May the gold shine through as you reflect on 2024 and turn towards 2025.
We look forward to connecting in the new year!
With appreciation,
The team at the Myasthenia Gravis Association
