MGA Feature Friday: Michael Eagan

For the last Feature Friday of the year, we felt that it would be most appropriate to recognize Michael Eagan, our new board president of the MGA! Prior to this role, Michael served as vice president and played a pivotal role in fulfilling the mission of the MGA.


Michael is married with three daughters, two grandsons, and is very involved in his community. Michael serves as a mentor at Cristo Rey High School, is co-founder of TEAM Soccer, a soccer program for children with special needs, chair of the finance council at Church of the Ascension, and board member at First State Bank. In his free time, Michael enjoys running, skiing, and traveling.


Meet Michael Eagan:


What is your name? Where are you from?

ME: My name is Michael Eagan. I grew up in the St. Louis (Florissant) area and I now live in Overland Park, KS.


What is your role in the MG community?

ME: I am currently the President of the MGA Board.


Can you describe your role as President of the MGA Board?

ME: I provide leadership to the board and to the Executive Director in an effort to find the best ways possible to support the MG Community.

How long have you been involved with the MGA?

ME: I have been involved with the MGA Board for 3+ years.


What drove you to support the MGA community?

ME: I was looking for a way to give back to the community.


What are your favorite aspects of being a part of the MGA?

ME: I am excited to see the progress that is being made in treating patients with MG. I feel there is a lot of positive momentum being made in the treatment options for patients, which makes this a very exciting time.


Prior to your involvement with the MGA, had you heard of myasthenia gravis?

ME: Yes, my dad had MG.


What have you learned as a result of being involved with the MGA? Has myasthenia gravis, the MGA, and/or MG patients impacted your own life?

ME: I have learned that there are numerous resources available to support MG patients and their families. I have learned there is a very dedicated MGA staff that works tirelessly to support MG patients and their families. I have learned that progress is being made in the treatment of MG.


What are you looking forward to as a 2021 Board President for the MGA?

ME: I am looking forward to seeing all the progress being made with the treatment/cure for MG.
