As we get closer to the end of MG awareness month, we wanted to remind you of ways you can raise awareness all year round. The quest to help others with MG doesn’t stop in June, and we need fellow friends in the MG fight to support us in raising awareness and support. Below are some ways to make a difference in your MG community. Take a look and remember, the MGA will continue to raise awareness for myasthenia gravis: every. single. day.
Share your story
There’s nothing more powerful than sharing your MG experience with those around you. Telling our MG stories is the first step to raising awareness about this snowflake disease. Whether it be one person or hundreds, letting somebody in on what we go through day in and day out is key to helping others understand MG.
Host a fundraiser
Maybe raising funds for research and support is more your thing. Planning a fundraising event is a great way to further our understanding of MG and moreover, an opportunity to expand our treatment landscape. Sound like a lot of work? Did you know that Facebook allows you to host a fundraiser on your birthday? Simply pick a cause that is important to you and just like that, you have a fundraiser.
Participate in an event
The MGA loves nothing more than seeing fellow MG patients at our awareness events. Speaking of which, our annual trivia night is coming up in August and we want you there! Our trivia night is a fun opportunity to gather with people you love, tease your brain a bit, and most importantly, raise awareness for MG. Join us on August 26th at Arrowhead Stadium for our annual event!
Share a graphic on social media
Raising awareness for MG does not have to be energy-zapping. Sharing a graphic on social media is a small but strategic way to create awareness. Share our Facebook posts, Instagram stories, tweets and LinkedIn posts—you never know who might see it!
Sport the color teal
Teal: not only a beautiful color but one that represents MG awareness. Wear one of your MGA t-shirts or get crafty and make something that stands out for others to notice. P.S. patients who attended our MGA Triple Crown Showdown—whip out those VIP hats!
We would love to hear from you! If you are interested in sharing your story, hosting a fundraiser, participating in an event, or getting involved with the MGA in general, send us an email at info@mgakc.org!
